Nirmala Panth was Started by First Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji. When Guru Nanak dev ji was at Veiyi River, Bhai bhageerth was Disciple of Guru Ji. He was waiting for guru ji, outside the River from three days. When Guru ji came he gave him blessings and gave him Guru mantar and Nirmal bhekh .
So first Nirmala Sant was Bhai Bhageeth jee. Bhai Bhageerth ji was nambardar at village Malshia Sultanpur Dist. Kapoorthala . Main motive of Nirmala panth is to remain alone, Recite the Gurubani, to teach people about the Gurbani.
Bhai Gurdas Ji wrote about Nirmal panth:
Maria sikka jagat vich Nanak nirmal panth chlaya
(Var Bhai Gurdas Ji, Pauri 45)
In Shri Guru Granth Sahib there is written following lines.
Nirmal bhekh appar tass bin awar na koi
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1409)
Kalyug Nanak nirmala panth chlayao aaee
Ved kateb bahura japde ek Khudai
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1409)
After Guru Nanak Dev ji, Nirmala Sant Followed 9 Guru ji’s advices . Guru Gobind singh ji Selected Five Nirmala Sants Bhai veer singh,Bhai Ganda Singh ,Bhai Ram Singh ,Bhai Sain Singh that was already well educated in Language, Religion. Guru ji asked them to go to Kaashi to learn the Sanskrit Language. Following the guru ji s order all saints went to kaashi in 1686. They stayed 13 years in Kaashi . They become expert in Grammar, Ved Upnisyad ,Nyaa Vadant Sahitya Ayurved ,Dhanorved and Sarv Vidhya . Then they came back At Anandpur Sahib at 1699 .They meet Guru Gobind Singh ji Anandpur They praised Guru ji in Sanskrit . Guru Ji was very Happy from Saints . Guru ji Told You are my nirmala saint Now you become Nirmal (Clean ). Now you have to teach the Sikhs all the study that have done from kaashi.
Bhai Dharam Singh (one of panj piara ) baptized the 5 Saints. Guru Gobind Singh was happy From Bhai Dharam Singh( Because he was true Sikh that was Following Guru ji s advices . Guru ji told Bhai Dharm Singh ji “Now Nirmal Samprda will work upon your name. There will be Great Saints in Nirmal Samprda . Kings Maharajas will become disciple of Nirmals . Many people will came to get moksh from Nirmala Sant.. Guru ji s wording becomes true when Maharaja Ranjit singh and Maharaja Patiala Becomes Desicple of Nirmala . They gave many lands to Nirmala Sant that are present till now.
So the Nirmala Sant followed the Guruji s advices till now. At Present Maharaj Gyan Dev jee Shri Mahant Who is also Head of Nirmal panchyat Akhara Kankhal Haridwar (uttranchal ) Was running the Nirmal Samprda and Following the Guru ji s advices .

But i have some contradicting points. As per my readings nirmal saints are too old from sri guru nanak dev g, earlier they were called “bhagvadhari sadhu/saint”. As per Nirmal Sanpradaya in sikhs is concerned it started when sri guru gobind sing g sent 5 sikhs to Kaashi to get knowledge of Ved/Upnishad, but the pandits there denied as all of them were “Shastradhari” or the “Kshtriya” not brahmins. Then guru sahib exempted these of wearing weapons. From tehre started the Nirmal Sampradaya. I have been with meny of the nirmale saints, Baba Dalel Singh g Moni, baba Davinder Singh G, Bhuri Wale and many more.
